About Hvammból
Hvammból Apartments is a small, family-run guesthouse just outside of Vík, in the heart of breathtaking Mýrdalur. We have eight studio apartments for rent where our guests can enjoy the rolling hills and endless sky in comfort. Only a short drive away you will find black sand beaches, glaciers, and waterfalls. We hope you’ll make the most of your time on the southern coast of Iceland by staying with us.
Our apartments
Hvammból Apartments offers eight studio apartments which all have a private entrance and porch. Each apartment has a large double bed, a full bathroom and kitchen, coffee, tea, and free WiFi. Bed linen and towels are also provided.

Each studio apartment features a large double bed with bed linens provided.

Meet Your Hosts
We are Salóme and Óli, and we live at the farm Hvammból along with our children and two dogs. Along with running the guesthouse Hvammból Apartments we also raise cows and sheep, grow strawberries, and care for the fields around the home. Both natives of Vík, we’re eager to introduce our hometown to the world. We think Hvammból and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We’re sure you’ll agree once you’ve seen it for yourself.
Sightseeing and surroundings
The southern coast of Iceland is the most popular region with foreign visitors because of its dramatic scenery and natural splendour. Hvammból Apartments location just 12 kilometres west of the village of Vík puts us at the centre of sightseeing while still giving you access to shopping and museums. Waterfalls, wildlife, and historic areas are just a short drive, walk, or horse ride away from our home.
Reynisfjara black beach
The Black Beach (Reynisfjara) is one of the most popular tourist spots in all of Iceland. It showcases a variety of unique and amazing rock formations, vibrant bird-life, spectacular views of the Dyrhólaey sea arches and- of course- black sand! The Black Beach is a 10-15 minute drive east of the guesthouse.
Dyrhólaey
The Dyrhólaey promontory has dramatic sea arches, wild-life preserve and lighthouse. It’s a popular spot for birdwatchers and the view from the top is extraordinary! Dyrhólaey is only a 5-10 minute drive from the Hvammból Guesthouse and the lighthouse can be seen from the property.
Víkurkirkja Church
This church is an iconic building in Vík, 12 kilometers to the east of Hvammból Guesthouse. The church hill offers an unparalleled view of the village, ocean and the surrounding area. It also serves as a local concert venue.

Check-in
Check-in is from 16:00 and until 21:00 on the day of your arrival. Please contact us for late arrivals.
Check-out
Check-out is before 11:00 on the day of your departure. You can leave the apartment keys inside the apartment when you leave.
Parking
There is free parking outside the apartments. No reservations needed.

We offer complimentary coffee and tea in the apartments.

Our location
Hvammból Apartments are ideally located by Iceland’s main highway, road 1 or the Ring Road. We are located 12 km west of Vik in Mýrdalur valley, putting us in the centre of one of Iceland most popular sightseeing route with some of the South Coast’s major natural attractions within short driving distances.
We are surrounded by stunning nature and majestic landscapes, with Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara Black Beach only 10 minutes drive from the guesthouse.
Hvammból Apartments is perfectly located to serve as a base for those travelling the South Coast, or as a stop-over for those travelling the Ring Road.
With Vik village within 10 minutes drive, you’ll have quick access to services such as grocery stores, local swimming pools, restaurants, café and shops.
